In this Q&A, I chat with, Melissa, the founder of Mrs. Push about how her own experience as a mom led her to create a one-stop shop for curated, customizable push presents. From sentimental bracelets to bespoke jewelry pieces, she shares what makes her collection unique, her favorite client stories, and why every mom deserves a timeless reminder of the strength and love that brought her baby into the world
Can you tell Move Mama Move readers about your company?
Mrs. Push is an online push present and mom jewelry destination. We understand the struggle of finding a push present that truly represents your journey of motherhood.
How did you come up with the idea of helping people find the perfect push present?
I struggled to find the perfect push present after my first two babies were born, so I never got one. Everything was too generic, and the local jewelers didn’t understand the extra meaning behind the push present. It’s a gift you receive once, twice, three times (or more, depending on how many kids you have), but it’s a much bigger deal than, say, a birthday gift.
You want to look back at this piece and remember that special time—the good, the bad, and the challenging. I knew I wasn’t the only one who struggled with this, so I decided to open a one-stop shop for push presents!
What is your background?
I started my career as a buyer in women’s fashion in New York. I LOVED buying and being able to see full collections and cherry-pick my favorites. Later on, when I learned human design, I discovered that mine is “curating.” Which is so appropriate. I love to find the best of the best in any area and share it with my community. So naturally, when I launched my business, I began curating the best push presents and putting them all in one spot—Mrs. Push.
What do people like most about helping others find the perfect push present?
They love the personalization aspect. Almost all products can be customized and tweaked to what the client has in mind. They might want an initial bracelet but with the addition of a birthstone, which may not appear on the site. We can literally customize anything (with no additional charge for the custom process).
What is one piece of advice you would offer people looking to use Mrs. Push to find a push present?
Always reach out if there’s something you have in mind that you don’t see on the site, or if you’re imagining something but aren’t sure how it would look. We can do renderings, drawings, etc., so you can fully visualize the piece before committing to buy.
What has been your favorite collaboration or client interaction and why?
Hmmm… I have so many exciting collaborations coming up this Spring with influencers that I’ve followed for years.
Another memorable client interaction would be from over the holidays. We had a bracelet that got lost in transit, and it was a Christmas gift. With just four days left until Christmas, we had another bracelet made in 24 hours (which is usually a three-week process) and overnighted it. The client was nervous it wouldn’t arrive in time to give to his wife on Christmas Day.
When he saw all we were doing to get the bracelet to him in time, he gave me the biggest compliment we could ever receive. He told me, as a small business owner himself, that he had never seen or experienced such amazing customer service. The gifts we are selling are core memories, and we want to make sure that everyone has the experience they envisioned with their piece.
Does your company offer any other services or products not talked about above?
As mentioned above, yes—we can create or source anything! Even if you’re not looking for mom/family jewelry, we can get you any piece you want, even if it’s not on the site. Also, I just want to add that although push presents can be pricey, they don’t have to be…We have something for everyone, with prices starting at $150!
