6 Favorite Travel Items for Moms

Traveling with kids is a whole different kind of adventure. Between keeping everyone fed, entertained, and somewhat on schedule, it’s easy for moms to put their own needs last. But I’ve learned—after three kids, countless road trips, and more flights than I can count—that having a few essentials for myself makes the entire experience smoother. When I feel organized, comfortable, and cared for, I can show up more present for my family (and enjoy the trip too).

Here are my top six travel items that every mom should have in her suitcase.

1. A Pill Organizer for Supplements

I never thought I’d be someone who traveled with a pill organizer, but here we are—and I’ll never go back. Between vitamins, minerals, and the occasional daily supplements I like to keep up with, this little tool has been a game changer. Instead of tossing a bunch of bottles into my bag or forgetting to take what I need, I load up a compact organizer before we leave.

I typically use a 7-day organizer for short weekend trips, but for trips that are longer than a few days, I’ve enjoyed using this round organizer. I usually can fit in about 2 weeks worth of capsules, which I love

I love that it helps me stay consistent while traveling, when routines are naturally disrupted. And as a mom, keeping my own energy levels stable makes a big difference. Whether it’s vitamin D, magnesium, or my daily multivitamin, I know I’m covered without the clutter of extra bottles. Plus, it saves space in my luggage—always a win.

2. A Hip Pouch for Phone and Wallet

When you’re juggling strollers, snacks, and children darting in three directions, digging through a bottomless tote bag for your phone or wallet just isn’t practical. That’s why I swear by a hip pouch (or belt bag, fanny pack, whatever you want to call it).

It keeps my essentials—phone, wallet, keys—right at my fingertips. I can wear it while baby wearing or tuck it in the diaper bag. No more frantic searching at the airport check-in line or while trying to pay for snacks at a roadside gas station. I can wear it cross body or around my waist, and it feels so much safer than leaving valuables in a backpack that I can’t see.

It might not be glamorous, but I’d pick quick access and peace of mind over style any day. Luckily, there are plenty of sleek options now that actually look cute too.

3. Packing Cubes

If there’s one thing that has transformed the way I pack for a family of five, it’s packing cubes. Each person gets their own set, in a different color, and it has completely eliminated the chaos of digging through a giant suitcase for socks or pajamas.

For me, I usually use one cube for clothes, one for undergarments and sleepwear, and another for odds and ends like accessories or workout gear. For the kids, I’ll sometimes pack entire outfits in a single cube—shirt, shorts, underwear, socks—so all they have to do is grab and go.

The best part? Packing cubes keep everything compact and wrinkle-free, and they make repacking for the trip home so much less stressful. I can’t recommend them enough for moms who are responsible for organizing not just their own stuff, but everyone else’s, too.

4. A Comfy Pair of Shoes

I’ve learned the hard way that uncomfortable shoes can derail an entire trip. When you’re walking through airports, wandering city streets, or chasing kids at the park, the wrong shoes mean blisters, sore feet, and a lot less patience.

I always pack at least one pair of sandals for beach trips or casual days and one pair of supportive tennis shoes for more active travel. My rule: don’t break in new shoes on vacation. Stick to what you already know is comfortable.

The right shoes keep me moving with my kids without wincing at every step. And when travel days are already long and tiring, the last thing I need is foot pain added to the mix.

5. Gemice Travel Bottles for Toiletries

Toiletries used to be one of my biggest packing headaches. Either I’d forget something and have to make a last-minute drugstore run, or I’d throw full-sized bottles into a bag and cross my fingers that they wouldn’t leak everywhere.

Now, I keep a set of Gemice travel bottles labeled and stocked at all times. Shampoo, conditioner, face wash, and body wash—they all have their designated bottles. Then I have another set for the kids: shampoo, body wash, lotion, and bubble bath. When it’s time to pack, I just toss the whole set into my toiletry bag and go.

It’s such a small shift, but it makes travel so much less stressful. I love knowing everything is ready without the frantic scramble to fill bottles the night before.

6. Electrolytes for Hydration

Travel can be so dehydrating—planes, heat, long days of walking, and, let’s be honest, coffee on repeat. I’ve started bringing single-serve electrolyte packets, and they’ve made a huge difference.

I love this brand because they come in packets that are easy to travel with. I’ll add one packet to my water bottle during travel days or after a particularly long outing with the kids. It helps with energy, reduces headaches, and keeps me feeling like myself instead of dragging. And since my kids sometimes need a boost too (especially after active days in the sun), it’s nice to have on hand for the whole family.

There’s always so much planning that goes into traveling with kids. It’s important for moms to prioritze their needs, too, so trips can be as enjoyable and comfortable as possible.
