Simple Ways To Add A Personal Flair To Your Wardrobe

Who actually wants their wardrobe to feel like it came straight off an assembly line? No one – or probably no one when they really think about it. That’s because your style is a reflection of who you are and it’s a way to show your own personality, so if it’s the same as everyone else’s, that’s not going to work. That’s why adding a personal touch to your outfits is a good idea because it’s an easy way to make sure you’re standing out from the crowd. And the best part of it all is that you don’t need a full closet overhaul or a massive budget to inject some individuality into your wardrobe – just a few small changes can make even the simplest outfit unique. With that in mind, keep reading to find out more about how to add some personal flair to your wardrobe.

Mix And Match Patterns And Textures

One of the easiest ways to put your own spin on your outfits is to play around with patterns and textures – you can make an entirely new wardrobe just by adding something here or combining something there. Mix things up by combining different textures like leather, wool, or maybe even denim with big, bright, bold prints and delicate materials that you might not normally put together, but that can actually look fantastic if you do.

And remember – break the rules! They might say that you shouldn’t put florals with stripes, for example, but why not? It could look brilliant. The same goes for spots and plaid and loads of other combinations that ‘experts’ tell you aren’t right. If they’re right for you, that’s all you need to know, and you can experiment as much as you like.

Dressing rooms are the perfect place to start experimenting with your style. Whether at home or in a store, try mixing unexpected pieces, testing bold combinations, and seeing what truly reflects you before committing to a look.

Add Some More Fabric

Another great idea if you want to personalize your wardrobe is to add more fabric, or at least play around with material as much as you can. It doesn’t matter if you’ve never done any sewing before because this is your perfect opportunity to try it – you might find it’s a brilliant new hobby that you really enjoy. And if not, trying new things is always a good idea, even if it doesn’t lead to anything more.

If you’re not good at sewing and you don’t enjoy it, you can buy your fabric and pass the job on to an expert to do what you want them to. Just make sure you’ve got a good idea in mind so you can guide them, and they’ll probably have some ideas of their own to make the garment look perfect by the end – and whatever it does look like, it’s sure to be unique.

Shop In Thrift Stores

Thrift stores are absolute treasure troves when it comes to adding personal flair to your wardrobe because you’ll be able to find unique, one-of-a-kind pieces that you won’t see anyone else wearing. On top of that, you might even come across some lovely vintage items that can really make your wardrobe stand out and be more personal at the same time.

The key to shopping in a thrift store and really coming out with some great things is to go in with an open mind because you never quite know what’s going to be hidden in there that could catch your eye.

Upcycle Old Clothes

Following on from the idea of shopping in thrift stores, or perhaps you’ve looked in your wardrobe and noticed that some of the clothes are past their best, what about upcycling old clothes? In other words, before you throw anything out or you decide not to buy something from a thrift store because it’s not looking perfect, you might be able to add some flair to something while also being eco-friendly (if you were going to throw something out and it would have ended up in landfill, making changes and giving it a new life is much better for the planet).

You could do all kinds of things to upcycle old clothes. What about turning an old pair of jeans into modern shorts? Or how about dyeing a plain white t-shirt into a bold and colorful top that shows off who you really are? You could even up old clothes and use the pieces to sew patches onto other things – that can look really cool.

The fact is that this kind of thing is sure to give you something unique and fun, and if it happens to be good for the planet at the same time, why not?
